Journal 5
This journal is in response to the "Is There a There in Cyberspace?"
Answer the 3 "Questions on Meaning" and #1 under Writing Assignments
1. I believe there is not a there in cyberspace in that it is just not even a so called place. its just where people get on and talk about ideas and tell things that may or may not be true. There is no control and its not human interaction in that its through a machine.
2. Community to me is a place where people are there for each other for emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.
3. Non intentional community to me is like where u grow up you don't go after the community you don't seek it, it's already there for you. This is unlike intentional community in that one has to seek out that need for a community; like cyberspace.
1. My physical community on the UNC Charlotte campus is actually strong in that I have friends that actually care for me and help me with whatever I have problems and I am there for them when I am needed. This is my idea of a community. The strengths are that we fuel each other spiritually, physically, and mentally. We are also always there for each other. Our weaknesses would have to be that we do sometimes fight and get on each other nerves. I do not have a virtual community but when i had a facebook, it didn't do anything for me in that I needed a "real" community.
